Cataracts Causes, Symptoms and Signs
Cataract is the clouding of the normally clear IOL Intraocular Lens of the eye. Imagine looking out of a misty window and seeing what is on the other side. Now you sort of understand what cataract feels like. This is a very severe disorder considering it impedes a person’s ability to do menial, everyday tasks like writing, reading, driving, etc. This can have a very severe impact on a person’s everyday life and cause many problems.
Usually cataract is an age driven problem. As you age, the odds of you getting cataract increase. Cataract itself too, develops quite slowly at first. Until the signs make it impossible for you to ignore it. At this point you’ll probably have to undergo a Cataract Procedure. But fret not! A Cataract surgery is completely safe and very efficient in restoring your eyes to their former glory.
There are many symptoms that Cataract throws up when it starts to develop. Ideally, you should be able to spot them and make an appointment with an ophthalmologist. As they say, the early bird catches the worm, an early detection can help you avoid a lot of unnecessary medical costs and save you months of struggling to do basic activities.
- Cloudy or Blurred Vision
- Dim or Fading Vision
- Difficulty seeing things at night
- The constant need for brighter light
- Double Vision or Seeing everything twice

There are certain behaviours that put you at an increased risk for Cataract. These include things like:

- Exposure to radiation
- Too much time in the sun
Keep these things in mind and hopefully, you don’t ever have to undergo a Cataract procedure. But in case you do, know that with the right medical team at the right eye care centre, Cataract is extremely curable and safe.
